Inter Law – Paramedic makes personal injury claim

Paramedic makes personal injury claim – 20/03/2017A paramedic is suing an 82 year old woman for injuries he sustained whilst on her property. The paramedic was called to the woman’s house after she suffered a suspected heart attack. Whilst his colleague was administering treatment to the woman, the paramedic returned to the ambulance to retrieve a stretcher. On walking back to the house he tripped and twisted his ankle when the security light at the home went out.

Another ambulance was then called to transport the paramedic to a nearby hospital where he found he had sprained his ankle and had sustained some ligament damage. A case was filed for lost of earnings as the paramedic was not covered by the Ambulance Service’s liability insurance.

Lawyers for both parties are currently discussing the case, but the law states that individuals are allowed to claim for injuries caused by accidents on private property if someone else is at fault.
