Inter Law – personal injury claim lawyer

Making a personal injury claim is sometimes not straightforward and there can be a few pitfalls to be aware of. Here’s some advice on how best to go about making a personal injury claim and what to watch out for.

The first thing to do when considering making a personal injury claim is to seek independent advice. There are quite a few avenues available. You could try your local Citizens Advice Bureau office (CAB).  If you ring the CAB national helpdesk they will be able to inform you off your nearest office and opening hours. You can find a specialist personal injury law firm by contacting the Law Society. There are also a host of online insurers that can deal with your PI claims. If you or a member of your family belongs to a trade union you can take advantage of their free legal service. The best advice is to shop around a bit to see what is best for you. No Win No Fee maybe an option. This is when you pay no fees irrespective if your claim is successful.

Recently there has been a number of cases brought to the fore involving the practise of ‘third party capture’. This is when an insurer will contact your directly either by writing, telephone or even knocking at your door and offering you a compensation settlement. This is generally not good practice and insurers that adhere to this method should not be trusted. Typically cold callers can be quite persuasive so just be firm and say no and that you are seeking independent advice before acting.

It can be quite a stressful time when you have been injured or involved in an accident but taking action as soon as you can is always advisable. If you are injured at work contact the relevant person and inform them of your injury as soon as possible. The same goes for if you are in involved in an accident; report the incident to your local police station. Try to give us much information as possible and if you can take photographs which may also help your cause all the better.

You normally have three years before making a personal injury claim so you do have time on your hands so try to use it wisely to find the best option for you.
