Inter Law – Pedestrians causing more car accidents in London

Pedestrians causing more car accidents in London – 20/03/2017The number of pedestrians in London who have been involved in road traffic accident s has doubled in the last year. People killed or seriously injury by cars in the City of London rose from 12 in 2005 to 26 in 2006. These shocking figures have been blamed on the rise in popularity of portable MP3 players, which are said to be are distracting for the pedestrians who use them. Workers walking out of tube stations in the morning are perhaps not at their most alert, and can be easily distracted by their music player. Forgetting to check for traffic when crossing the road, or stepping out from behind parked cars is leading to more car accidents involving pedestrians. Listening to music also impairs your hearing of sounds around you meaning you are less likely to hear a car approaching.

Pedestrians are being warned that they need to remain alert when crossing roads, to avoid these kinds of accidents from occurring.
